How do we make policies and guidelines more engaging?

Three questions for Niklas Rosén, Director of Content at Junglemap.

The term compliance is almost synonymous with “ticking the box”. How can we make policy communication more engaging?
Many policies are very comprehensive and difficult for employees to absorb. Many of our customers choose to split up policies into smaller parts and share this with employees one section at a time. This increases understanding and awareness of the organisation’s policies, while making it easier for employees to actually remember what they have learned.

Policies and guidelines can often feel theoretical and self-evident. Is it possible to make them more engaging?
One way is through NanoLearning, which uses reflection questions and scenarios as part of learning. This is especially effective when employees are encouraged to reflect on everyday situations and make informed choices. The goal is to increase both engagement and understanding. Put simply, you can make a “heavy and dry” policy easier to absorb by “dressing it up” in the workplace context.

Many organisations are realising that compliance alone is not enough and that a strong culture is crucial. What can you do about that?
That’s right. One of our customers told us that a stack of printed documents from an inspection authority was “over three inches thick”. It is almost impossible to work through that amount of information and retain it. The idea behind NanoLearning is to bring knowledge into people’s everyday lives.

New course: Introduction to company policies
Junglemap has launched a course containing introductions to a wide range of policies. We want to make it easier for our customers to increase awareness of internal guidelines. Employees can easily access the information and confirm that they have read and understood it.
