During the COVID-19 pandemic, Fortum needed a way to quickly reach employees who were suddenly spread out across many different locations. After comparing several digital learning tools, they chose NanoLearning from Junglemap.
– It was the simple design, the ease of use, and the fact that Junglemap is a Nordic company that made us interested, says Ann Boije af Gennäs.
In her role as Head of Digital Innovations, she sees a clear trend: short-form content is taking over. On major platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn, much of what people consume are short educational pieces—microlessons covering a wide range of topics.
– There are so many needs to meet. It’s really just a matter of being innovative, says Ann Boije af Gennäs.
Hybrid leadership
During the pandemic, Fortum used Junglemap’s NanoLearning for courses on hybrid leadership, sending out one lesson per week with regularly updated content—both text and video. This method proved very effective. Since then, NanoLearning has been used in several different contexts, and Ann Boije af Gennäs is looking forward to launching new initiatives.
– But we’ll need support from Junglemap to get started, she notes. There are many needs—it’s just a matter of setting the right priorities to make it happen.
Hybrid work models are here to stay. Combined with a 2023 likely shaped by high uncertainty, the need for continuous organizational learning and communication remains strong.
– For example, we’re about to launch a new strategy. That could definitely be something we raise awareness about through NanoLearning, reflects Ann Boije af Gennäs.
